103 days to kickoff of the 2023 Florida High School football season as the Navarre Raiders will host the Catholic Crusaders on 25 Aug 2023 at the comfy confines of Bennett C. Russell Stadium.
103 games ago – Navarre 35, Choctaw 28 (2013)
Prior to the game, the Raiders retired Ian Lockwood’s #10 – the only number to be retired in Navarre history.
With the hopes of a District title on the line, the Raiders were about to accomplish something that had never been done before in school history…back to back District titles. Early on in the second quarter, those dreams were slowly fading as they fell behind 28-7.
Matthew Webb would find Gatlin Casey from 8-yards out to cut the lead to 28-14 going to the intermission. The lead was then cut to seven when Webb found John Graczyk on a 30-yard strike on 4th and 8. While still in the third quarter, Webb knotted the game up at 28 with a 34-yard scamper.
The Raiders defense did their part as they held the Indians scoreless over the last two and a half quarters of the game. Webb would then lead the offense on a 89-yard fourth quarter drive, culminating with a 5-yard run by Casey to give Navarre their second straight District title.
