It seemed like the 2020 season would never arrive…first the season was delayed because of COVID-19; then Mother Nature threw us another curve with Hurricane Sally cancelling the first game against the Milton Panthers. But, Navarre would finally take the field on September 25th as they travelled to Pace.
The Raiders would get on the board first as Preston Penton connected from 29 yards out with eight minutes to go in the opening quarter. Unfortunately in the first, Navarre would lose one of their senior offensive lineman as Jeremiah Chavis-Mhoon suffered a season ending leg injury. End of one, 3-0 Raiders.
Navarre would go up ten as Jaden Rivera found the end zone from 7 yards out at 6:03 of the second. But, Pace would answer right back as Brandon Miller hit Tyler Strain on a 56-yard pass play at 2:05…went to the half, 10-7 Raiders.
Navarre would score on their opening possession of the second half as Rivera scored his second touchdown of the night, this one from 10 yards out to close out the scoring…Final, Raiders win 17-7.
Rivera led the offense with 145 yards on 24 carries and two scores and the defense held the Patriots to 172 yards of total offense on the night (99 passing/73 rushing) led by junior LB Devin Wright’s 10 tackles (6 solo/4 assists). Newcomer safety Jaden Jones pitched in with two interceptions.
